My grandfather collected scrimshaw. He would have loved this, very much. Beautiful.

I have been a fan of the art since childhood - I was in Alaska --1967 --69 ---Saw a Sh-t pot of scrimshaw--but nothing like this-----
A captivating realistic image brilliantly executed---Gip

"How it was harvested from the animal? Humanely I sincerely hope"---I sincerely hope the ANCIENT TUSK was Humanely removed from God's earth.

Without doubt an amazing work of art Darrel but I am wondering how you acquire the walrus tusk to work on? Do you know how it was harvested from the animal? Humanely I sincerely hope

Ancient walrus ivory is primarily picked up at old Eskimo camp sites in Alaska along the Bering Sea. It has been in the ground for thousands of years. It is found and sold to wholesalers who then sell it to artists like myself. Unfortunately, it's becoming scarcer and more difficult to come by.

It is engraved. I stipple the images using a needle and rub paint into the holes.

My dear friend, you left me speechless !!!
I've stayed a few minutes and I watched your work in the most profound detail and I was amazed.  Then I downloaded the photo and I watched it again.
I could not believe that my portrait will comes to be an object of art.  Moreover, in fact it is more expressive than a photo of mine, you managed to reveal my thoughts, remorse and fear, the pleasure, passion and regret,..everything that characterizes and defines me during this brief existence where love for people, nature and animals, means to love God whatever his name is in various religions. Through the work done by you, I have received the love of God ' back,  and our soul it feeds with these spiritual achievements.
Any words of gratitude I have, would not be sufficient to express my true joy to be the one that was chosen by you to be transformed by your talent into an object of art that will endure several generations.
I worship reverently in front of your achievements !
Thanks mate !
